Researchers

Orbyts partners science researchers with students in local state schools to empower young people to undertake cutting-edge research. Our goal is to improve inclusivity in science for historically excluded groups whilst developing the leadership potential of the researchers. Whether you are a PhD student, post-doctoral researcher, or academic staff member, we welcome your involvement.

"It was extremely satisfying to see the students asking so many questions, being eager to learn more – all these after school hours! To summarise how enjoyable it was, I’ll just mention this: On many occasions, while working on my projects, I catch myself thinking “This can be an interesting topic for ORBYTS!"

- Post-Doctoral Researcher

"Orbyts ignited my love for science communication and reminded me of why I wanted to research astrophysics in the first place. It’s quite easy to get bogged down in the finer details of your day to day research, but by having to go back to basics to explain your project to school students, it gave me a refreshed perspective for doing my own research. You have such freedom with how you teach and I was able to integrate some animations and drawings into my presentations to help explain difficult topics."
